black convetible top care,liner velcro??

edited February 2009 in Feature Mustangs
i have had a lot of convertibles, almost all were white
in oct 08 i got the yellow/back feature car
looking for recomendations for cleaning and caring,
mostly i have heard not to use armoral,i also live in the hot dry desert, so dryness, cracking, heat expose are all concerns
i gets plenty of garage time, but just looking to keep it looking good as long as i can.

also the velco holding the liner along the top of the rear glass
is not in good shape
anyone know of super strong velcro(that will stick to the roof)
i can find velcro that sticks to each other, how to stick it to the roof material??

thanks a lot

  • I've also heard not to use Amourall, but I've used it for years on my black top 99 feature car, and the top is like new after nearly 10 years. I actually try to use Nu-Vinyl, but that is hard to find sometimes and have probably put Amourall on it at least 50% of the time. I always clean it good with a mild detergent and soft bristle brush. The good thing about black is they always look good. Not the same case with my Triple White!
  • i will look for the Nu-Vinyl...not a walmart product?
yeah white and black are like night and day :D
when it comes to looking good

    anyone on the velcro issue
    some must had this issue

i actually had a liner in my 93 calypso green vert
but that velcro stayed perfect for 151,000 miles
    before it premature death...

    thanks mustangdanimal!
  • Gorilla glue? That stuff sticks to anything. Use it spaningly, it EX PANDS!!
  • thanks again dan

  • Sorry for the delay in answering. Haven't checked the forum lately. I've not used Gorilla glue on this particular application, but I've used it on fabric, vinyl etc. and it does a great job. Again, use it sparingly, and one it dries, you'll never get it off anything.
