steering column question??

edited March 2009 in Feature Mustangs
I bought a 92 feature car. I also have an 89 lx. In my 89 there is a white button you push to get the key out of the ignition. On the 92 convertible there is a hole where it is on the 89 but no button. Also no tilt arm. I think I saw that the 92 convertibles do not have tilt though. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Dwayne

The 92 is an airbag car and they did not come with a tilt option. Best of luck.
  • Ford put the buttons in when you had a manual 5-speed car. I am guessing that your 1989 Lx is manual, and that your Feature car is not?

    No tilt.. too bad too..

  • Unfortunately they are both automatics. Is there anyone with an automatic that can help? Maybe the previous owner replaced the column cover with one that had these options. If that’s the case does anyone know where can could get the correct one?
  • Mine is a 90 7-Up, but it is also an automatic. There is a button on the underside of the steering column to release the key. As others have said, no tilt with the airbag though.

    Hope this helps.
  • I have my 93 Feature and a 92 Hatchback, both are A/T's both have the hole but no button, both are untouched.

  • Right, there is a hole, but no button there.
  • Cool thanks! I was thinking it was weird that the holes were there with no button on tilt lever. I guess they didn’t make a special column cover for these cars with out the holes.
    Thanks for the help.
