'Mustang Monthly" WHITE ON WHITE article - NOT CONCOURS

edited February 2005 in Feature Mustangs
The March 2005 issue has a 2 page layout on a white feature car, a so called all original. It says the Pennsylvania owner only collects concours convertibles.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but looking at the picture 2 things strike me as not original. First, the pinstriping was not a Ford option. Hope it's tape, so it can be removed easily.

Second, I don't think that the front license plate holder came from the factory. It was usually installed by the dealer in those states that require a front plate. I had to put one on mine, but I painted it white.

Now, I'm no maven on what constitutes "concours", but this Mustang, while very nice, is not all original.

  • This is a car I have quite an interest in. This car has been given a lot of attention by the magazines and I have previously commented on it.

What you can't easily tell from the Mustang Monthly pictures is that it has gold emblems. (ford ovals, 5.0 and center caps). This was highlighted when it appeared in Mustang Times and was described as something the cars "came equipped" with.

Probably most frustrating for me is that when I contacted the Mustang Club of America (the publisher of Mustang Times) about this inaccuracy, I never received a response. I have been a dues-paying member of the MCA for a couple years. Nice. [:-s]

These options are most likely changes made after the car left the factory which I would consider dealer "modifications". The license plate bracket might be OK since it is listed on the window sticker and I think it came from the factory with (but not on) the car.

Hopefully, the owner of that car is a visitor of this web site and might contact me or join this thread. I'd love to find out more about the car.
  • I bought one of the gold emblem center caps on E-bay today. When it comes in I'll check the part number and let you guys know if these are original or aftermarket.
  • I wanted to see it so I just searched ebay for it.

    $0.99. Nice deal!!!

I'm definitely interested to hear more about once it arrives.
  • I received the center cap today, and it is original Ford part number F1ZC 1A096-AA. The same part number that's on the standard ones I have for sale on E-bay now. The pony is gold, but looking at the back of both kinds of caps, it looks like the Pony can be removed and replaced. No numbers on the Pony emblem though. Thought I'd let you guys know. I also just bought 2 Brand new in the box sets of Yellow Feature Car floor mats, due in on Friday. I regret selling the 3 sets I had for the white car on E-bay, but the $$$$$ helped pay for me to get my Yellow car. Lesser of 2 evil's I guess. I'm starting to build quite a little lot of extra's for these cars. I now have a extra set of rims for the white and red, a set of white & chrome center caps, the floor mats, hood cowl's for the white and yellow, body side molding for the white, dash vents for all 3, a spare stereo, 5.0 emblems, upholstry for the red one (rear seat top), seat belt bezels for the yellow, center console, actuators mirror switches, window switches and so on.
