Aftermarket stereo speakers with factory stereo. Anyone doing it?
I'm thinking ahead to the coming warm weather and getting my car ready for it. One thing I have never been happy with is the stock stereo. I'd like to keep it stock looking but I am thinking that maybe some new speakers could make it sound better (and no one would know anything was different). I have the factory CD with the factory amp. Anyone with a factory stereo (CD or cassette) that has swapped speakers that could tell me about their results?

I want to do the same thing with my system, the stock speakers have really reached the end of their useful life. (Probably weren't that good in the first place.
Check on Crutchfield. com and enter the year and model of your car and it will supply you with a good list of alternatives. If you're still not sure, they have an 800 # to call and someone will walk you through it.
I plan on replacing mine soon...

I have purchased from Crutchfield a couple of times in the past and have been really happy with them. I think new speakers will make a big improvement. Even though I like the sound of the V8, [B-)] I still like some good tunes with the top down.

I still have my factory speakers, but I changed out the original stereo/cassette to a am/fm stereo/CD. The neat thing was the color of the new unit......all white. It adds a nice touch to the car. It's a Clarion Marine unit that was originally in my Sea Ray. Being a Marine unit, the CD player to take quite alot of bumps and shakes and never skips.
Of course, I still have the original unit to return Ooh La La to stock condition if that ever becomes important.
Let us know how the replacement speakers work out.
