Sad Day for Triple White's

It was a very sad day today for those of us that are fans of the Triple White. I happened to go looking for a rim for my Yellow feature, and stumbled across a sad sight. The man took me to the back of the yard (salvage yard) to see if he had one. As we drove down the isles to his car he thought would have them, we passed a Triple White. It was bleeding from all ends, left tail hit, left door hit, right front hit, and to shame us all, some one had stolen the spoiler. I asked if he wanted to sell it, but he replied he could not, it had no title, and would have to be crushed once he had the paper work allowing him to. The guy (young no nothing) who owned the car, lived near me, and I slowly watched this car decay, and fall apart. On several occassions I offered to buy the car, but he didn't want to sell, (hope he's happy now). At that time, it still had a spoiler, and wasn't as bad. To top it all off, it was a 5 speed. I thought, how cool would it be to have a stick, and an automatic. I am now in negotiations with the salvage yard to purchase the entire interior, and rims. That's all that's worth a squirt right now. How sad is this!!!!!!! Well John, mark one down as gone forever. I'll get the VIN number if I can. Sorry, I have to go hug my cars and cry now. :(

  • That is a sad story with no chance that anyone can ever restore it.

It's amazing how careless some people are. I recently downloaded a crash compilation video that was mostly drag racing accidents but it included some salvage yard footage of 2005's that appeared to be total losses. That was also very sad.

As far as our beloved triple whites, we'll just have to cherish the ones that remain. I know I really like mine. Maybe too much. On a positive note, I just scored a used replacement OEM CD stereo on ebay to replace my sometimes flaky original unit.

I hope you are successful in getting the salvageable parts from that one, Greg.
  • That is infuriating to me...I wonder how many beautiful cars have met their demise by the same ignorance... [X-(]

Just the other day I stopped by a house after I saw a '69 Mach One sitting in the backyard under a tree. The girl who answered the door said it belonged to her brother, and he was planning to restore it someday. She also told me that it had been sitting there for 25 years!!! But he didn't want to sell it. [#-o] I would like to be there the day they try to move it and the rust under it gives way...What makes it even worse is that I have some friends who are looking for a '69 Mach to restore...Second childhood kind of thing...This car would have been perfect for them, but no go...

Here's a site with many examples of the same stupidity...Some people probably have seen it, but for the ones who haven't...

  • Well, negotiations are complete. The seats, front and back, are cracked and torn (pass), the center console is in OK shape, but missing pieces, and the rims are FULL of road rash. What a tool, they make Hyundais, and Kia's for people who treat cars like this. I got the head rests, good shape, armrest plugs, the center caps, all clips intact, and only 1 is slightly scratched after cleaning them with soft scrub for an hour, the rear speaker panels and speakers, intact and only a slight chip off the drivers side the size of a finger nail, and the boot and bag in mint shape, go figure!!! I forgot the whole VIN, but the sequence number is 206019. Odometer read 36829. Assuming condition it's probably 136829 or more. The top was toast, and not one body panel was free of damage. Missing a taillight, and some of the front lights. This cat should have bought an Escort. It was also a 5 speed, no power seats, and AM/FM cassette (trashed). The only good piece in the whole interior was the headliner, but it smelled like dirty feet (pass) mine is fine. I managed to get the stuff for $70.00. Not sure if selling anything yet, but let me know if anyone needs anything. I decided not to get the 2005 because of delays, and my brother who works at Ford, says they are having some concerns with lighting, and suspension. I decided to look for another Feature. My 2 brothers are now getting into them, and they want me to sell them mine. Between me and my 1 brother, we have 4. He has the second Triple White I bought, now he wants my Red one. My other brother has taken a shine to my Yellow one. That's OK, my favorite has always been my first Triple White. Well I'm glad I got the caps, they can go on the new rims I got thanks to John and NPS. Now I have a complete extra set for the white, and my red in great shape. Do I sound obsessive, someone needs to do an intervention for me. LOL.
