Sad Day for Triple White's
It was a very sad day today for those of us that are fans of the Triple White. I happened to go looking for a rim for my Yellow feature, and stumbled across a sad sight. The man took me to the back of the yard (salvage yard) to see if he had one. As we drove down the isles to his car he thought would have them, we passed a Triple White. It was bleeding from all ends, left tail hit, left door hit, right front hit, and to shame us all, some one had stolen the spoiler. I asked if he wanted to sell it, but he replied he could not, it had no title, and would have to be crushed once he had the paper work allowing him to. The guy (young no nothing) who owned the car, lived near me, and I slowly watched this car decay, and fall apart. On several occassions I offered to buy the car, but he didn't want to sell, (hope he's happy now). At that time, it still had a spoiler, and wasn't as bad. To top it all off, it was a 5 speed. I thought, how cool would it be to have a stick, and an automatic. I am now in negotiations with the salvage yard to purchase the entire interior, and rims. That's all that's worth a squirt right now. How sad is this!!!!!!! Well John, mark one down as gone forever. I'll get the VIN number if I can. Sorry, I have to go hug my cars and cry now.

It's amazing how careless some people are. I recently downloaded a crash compilation video that was mostly drag racing accidents but it included some salvage yard footage of 2005's that appeared to be total losses. That was also very sad.
As far as our beloved triple whites, we'll just have to cherish the ones that remain. I know I really like mine. Maybe too much. On a positive note, I just scored a used replacement OEM CD stereo on ebay to replace my sometimes flaky original unit.
I hope you are successful in getting the salvageable parts from that one, Greg.
Just the other day I stopped by a house after I saw a '69 Mach One sitting in the backyard under a tree. The girl who answered the door said it belonged to her brother, and he was planning to restore it someday. She also told me that it had been sitting there for 25 years!!! But he didn't want to sell it. [#-o] I would like to be there the day they try to move it and the rust under it gives way...What makes it even worse is that I have some friends who are looking for a '69 Mach to restore...Second childhood kind of thing...This car would have been perfect for them, but no go...
Here's a site with many examples of the same stupidity...Some people probably have seen it, but for the ones who haven't...
