Build Sheets Part III
Posted On March 19, 2008
From my original posts on my own build sheet as well as a comparison of two independently issued build sheets for the same car, You should remember that a ‘build sheet’ is a term Ford uses when referring to the document they can produce that contains the original options for your car based upon your VIN.
The previous posts included only build sheets from the triple white 1993 feature cars. This post adds one from a yellow 1993 feature car as well as one from a red 1992 feature car.
Chet sent me the sheet from his 1993 yellow car.
Ron sent me the sheet that he just got on his recently acquired 1992 Feature Car.
There are several things to note here:
- Oxford White Convertible Top. Based upon a recent discussion in the forums, this is another piece of the puzzle that attempts to answer the question: Oxford or Bright/Performance white top for the 1992 Feature Cars. Ron’s feeling is that his car actually came with Bright/Performance White based upon the color of his original rear window panel when compared to his Oxford White replacement top. Pictures of this difference are in the aforementioned discussion forum thread.
- The option list includes “Limited Edition”. Ron told me that the woman who called him as she was the one pulling together his information noticed that his car was a limited edition so she added it.
- The Original Selling Dealership is listed. Ron has informed that he asked them to add this information and they obliged.
Thanks are in order to Chet and Ron for providing me with their sheets.

Great information. Looks like based on the above letter the color is Oxford. Looks like that is the direction I will go in with my top and seats.
I also ended up calling Ford today to also get my build sheet. Iam curious about the build date and to re-confirm Oxford is also on my car.
Thanks for the great information!
Hey John one thing that I noticed about our car is that it states on the “build sheet” that we have an am/fm premium sound system. We dont. The car has only an am/fm 25watt radio. A few of the other descriptions are different from our car to yours as well. Take care. Chet
@Chet: the errors that these things have is becoming a reoccurring theme. I didn’t mention it in the original entry but the 1992 Vibrant Red shown here has EBG listed for the paint code. This is incorrect; EY is the correct code.
I’ve had two of these letters done up for my 7-UP Car. The first time the VIN decoding included P40 = 2 door convertible LX. In the second letter they correctly decoded P44 as Mustang LX 2 door convertible. My top is Oxford White. Neither letter shows any reference to Limited Edition.
I recevied my letter and it looks very similar to Ron’s except I have only half of the detail that his letter shows. Where he has long descriptions of say the radio, mine only say’s “AM/FM Stereo/Clock/Cassette” even though I have the premium with graphic equilizer. My list looks more like Chets, it there just not alot of detail and things missing like the spoiler, wheels, headliner. I guess it all depends on who you get to answer the call and how much they decide to add.
It is still nice to have. I now know my car was built on 5/26/92 (Tuesday) and it confirmed my top color as being Oxford.
