Forum spam and PMs

edited May 2010 in Forum News
The problem with bogus users and posts from earlier this year seems to have subsided due to the preventative measures put into place.

Although, one thing surprised me that recently got through the cracks. I received a PM from someone claiming to have posted in the wrong category but then went on to talk about a questionable web site and provided a link. This prompted me to think about other angles that could use PMs to introduce spam to us.

So, be careful about PMs. We are in a pretty safe 'sandbox' here but bad guys still do get in if they really want to and may use PM to contact you. If you are buying or selling something be especially careful. If you ever have questions about anyone's identity feel free to contact me directly and I will give you my assessment.
