The Official Ford Mustang 5.0 Handbook

The Official Ford Mustang 5.0: Technical Reference & Performance Handbook: 1979 Through 1993

by Al Kirschenbaum; Bentley Publishers; March 2000; ISBN 0837602106

When I learned of this book through the Late-Model Corral section of the March 2003 Mustang Monthly (this issue had a question on the 1992 LX Feature Car) I thought it would be a wealth of information on the feature mustang. Not so. I provided only a couple things I did not know. It was five paragraphs in length but so far more information than I have seen in one place so far.

The most interesting aspect of the section on 1993 1/2 Limited Editions is a black and white picture that is included. The car appears to be yellow car with a white top/interior. It also appears to have white wheels! They are definitely not chrome. Apparently Ford has some trouble picking the chrome wheels as I have seen photos with the silver wheels on the yellow car, too.

Even though this book’s strong point is not the Limited Editions, I still highly recommend it to the fox body enthusiast. It covers each year in detail and very precisely defines the differences (mechanical and appearance) between model years 1979 and 1993. It also provides a review of the component systems and the possible points of modification. It’s a great place to start.

If you are into the 1993 Cobra this book would be invaluable. It has extensive details on all aspects of the cars (production, features, etc) and even contains part numbers for the components that made up the package.
