Pictures from the 2005 Mustang Tour

The 2005 Mustang Tour made its way through the Northeast over Memorial Day weekend 2004. This not very well publicized event was scheduled to meet the Great American Pony Drive II in 14 cities on the Pony Drive’s 40 city tour. I only found out about the 2005 Mustang Tour when I looked into the schedule of the Pony Drive in hope of seeing it in my area. I found out that when the Pony Drive was coming to Boston, they would be joined by the ’05 GT at Rodman Ford in Foxboro, MA. I attended that event and found that it was a great chance to get up close with the ’05 GT and to even sit in it. Unfortunately, something happened to my digital camera on the way home and I lost all of my pictures.|

That loss set me on a crusade to locate the other stops of the 2005 Mustang Tour in hopes of getting more pictures. After a few phone calls and emails, I relocated the tour in the New York/New Jersey area for Memorial Day Weekend. Here are the pictures I took when it visited All American Ford in Hackensack, NJ. This was another great chance to see the car up close with little or no other people around.

2005 Mustang GT
This 2005 GT was traveling on the tour with the 300 millionth Ford Vehicle (a 2004 Mustang GT). They were traveling together in a trailer with plexiglas windows that was said to "create a rolling traffic jam". At the show, they had the windows covered with four panels that showed a picture of the car. It was something to see the car in the trailer but I did not have a chance to get a picture of that. I arrived just as it was being driven out.

At Rodman Ford, I found out that this was one of three pre-production cars. Its VIN ended with something like 000194 and had no other identifying tags other than the VIN plate in the windshield. It was said to be "cosmetically correct".

60 more have been made since the initial three with 110 more scheduled very shortly (as of 5/30/2004). This car will probably be ultimately scrapped, used in a crash test or have some other similar sad fate.

2005 Mustang V6
Even the marketing guys traveling on the 2005 Mustang Tour did not expect to see another ’05 at All American Ford. They also had this silver V6 in the showroom.
